The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is looking for results-oriented, driven individuals with a thirst for problem solving. We are seeking an Environmental Program Manager to manage the operating functions of the Leak Prevention Unit in the Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section. The unit manages a variety of leak prevention activities, including non-corrective action programs, suspected release investigation, UST closure reports, and service provider certifications. This position will be responsible for supervising up to eight staff members, including assigning work, setting priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, and developing and providing training for the team.
The manager will participate in community involvement relations and oversee non-corrective action programs such as the Tank Site Improvement Program. This manager will attend meetings with other supervisory/managerial staff to give and receive information and to participate in discussion, problem resolution, and decision-making.

Comprehensive knowledge of UST state/federal rules and statutes, non-corrective action financial assistance programs, and release investigation and confirmation practices Experience with continuous improvement, including LEAN, Six Sigma, or others Knowledge of management techniques, particularly the coordination of people and resources through result-driven leadership Skills in planning, organizing, and managing a section's operation Skilled in strategic planning and managing successful completion of program goals Skilled in analyzing and interpreting technical data Ability to analyze program needs, establish program priorities, and implement operating policies and procedures Selective Preference(s)
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental management, environmental or chemical engineering, geology, biology, hydrology, or other environmental discipline 3-5 years of environmental experience in a regulatory agency, consulting, or private industry 2+ years of supervisory experience Benefits
