Job Title: Mortgage Loan Officer
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Virginia area branches
The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating mortgage loans with members or potential members through various channels. This role involves completing loan applications accurately and efficiently, cross-selling credit union products, and maintaining professional relationships with referral sources. The position reports to the Mortgage Production Manager and is commission-based.
Responsibilities
Pre-qualify members, select appropriate loan options, interview, gather documents, assemble files, and prepare disclosures.
Inform members about loan process steps, timeframes, rates, fees, and other key elements.
Cross-sell additional credit union products and services.
Participate in and pass all required Continuing Education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of the real estate industry, home purchase market, and loan lifecycle.
Knowledge of mortgage program guidelines, TRID requirements, interest rates, and APR.
Compliance with relevant laws and credit union policies.
Strong sales skills and ability to match member needs with products.
Ability to coach and develop team members and organize educational seminars.
Ability to build a network of referral sources and establish community relationships.
Excellent communication and public relations skills.
Education and Experience
Associates degree or equivalent experience.
2-3 years of mortgage lending sales experience, including purchase and refinance loans.
