The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) proactively acquires new residential mortgage business and matches members with Truliant Federal Credit Union mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. The Mortgage Loan Officer continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. A Mortgage Loan Officer’s network may consist of Real Estate professionals, Builders, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the Mortgage Loan Officer’s regular participation in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations. Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Responds to customer inquiries and referrals generated from personal contacts and other Truliant channels. Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determine financing objectives, advise on product/pricing policies, and gather additional information. Ensures exceptional member service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, demonstrating professionalism and compliance. Develops and maintains successful relationships with referral sources through marketing, prospecting, and networking. Meets with members during various stages of the loan process. Utilizes training materials and resources to provide accurate loan information to members and partners. Provides complete loan applications to fulfillment partners. Oversees and ensures successful loan process from origination to close, maintaining communication with members and partners. Participates in community efforts promoting homeownership. Presents Truliant products and explains guidelines. Works with Mortgage Processor, Underwriter, and staff to ensure timely submission and completion of loan conditions. Maintains current knowledge of all lending programs, policies, and regulations. Other Duties And Responsibilities
Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Understanding of loan origination concepts, practices, regulations, and services offered by the credit union. Thorough knowledge of mortgage processing, underwriting, closing, and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of insurance products and underwriting guidelines to ensure insurability and collateral value. Success in prospecting, generating leads, closing business, and meeting/exceeding goals. Established network of referral sources including real estate professionals. Strong computer skills, including MS Office, database management, and communication technology. Excellent time management, organization, and multitasking skills. Ability to analyze financial data and provide alternatives. Professionalism and effective interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Understanding of all credit union business processes. Eligibility to be bonded. Detail-oriented and well-organized. Ability to work in a general office environment and independently. Commitment to providing excellent member service. Physical Requirements
Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Sitting for long periods and computer use. Moderate lifting of up to 5 pounds, occasionally up to 10 pounds. Occasional travel between MFCs. Education and Background
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related experience preferred. Pass the NMLS S.A.F.E. Mortgage Loan Originator Test with 75%+ score within one year or demonstrate equivalent proficiency.
