Waterfall Asset Management, LLC is an SEC-registered alternative investment manager focused on specialty finance opportunities within asset-backed credit, whole loans, real assets, and private equity. Waterfall was founded in 2005 by Tom Capasse and Jack Ross, two individuals who were early leaders of the ABS industry, and who together have over 60 years of proven ABS/Loan credit analysis, trading, banking, and servicing experience. Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to perform monthly independent price verification (“IPV”) Waterfall’s various funds and accounts with a focus on Commercial Real Estate (WL Debt, Equity and Bond formats) held by Waterfall’s various funds and accounts
Monitor investment performance and sector trends to inform significant valuation assumptions
Partner with Portfolio Management teams to produce ad hoc reporting and analytical deliverables
Utilize applications such as Intex, Argus, and Bloomberg to value a variety of alt credit products
Build excel-based cashflow models for bespoke investments
Assist in preparation of monthly presentations detailing investment and sector-level performance that will be presented to senior management and LP’s
Build and maintain relationships with core constituencies including Front Office, Accounting, Business Development, and Operations
Drive enhancements and improvements to the group’s processes, procedures, offshore resources, and use of technology
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar field (CFA and/or CPA a plus)
1-5 years of experience in valuations, transaction services, consulting, or other relevant analytical roles
Experience in the valuation or modeling of Commercial Real Estate assets (Loans, Equity, CMBS, CRE CLO, Agency Multifamily)
Proficiency in Excel, VBA, and Argus
Strong interpersonal skills to confidently and competently handle interactions with deal professionals
Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Databricks, Qlik, Tableau, Power BI a plus
Experience with data science languages such as Python or R a plus
Experience with other products including Consumer Lending, Capital Markets, Private Credit, ABS, and Financial Accounting a plus
