Overview
Global Subject Matter Expert - mRNA Manufacturing (Remote) What will you do?
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting Sales and Business Development Executives (BDE) for mRNA manufacturing projects at the PSG sites. Assess customer needs, propose scientifically sound development pathways, seek collaborative solutions, and translate requirements to the quotations group. Ensure proposed solutions are scientifically viable and meet the business needs of both customer and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Review final proposals to ensure consistency with customer requirements in RFPs. Ensure site presentations are consistent with corporate marketing standards and maintain up-to-date technical capabilities. Lead customer site visits with site SMEs and manage the customer experience on site. Identify strategic opportunities related to mRNA manufacturing capabilities to enable greater proposal acceptance and business growth based on market and customer requests. Support BDEs as SME during customer site visits, representing site capabilities and the Thermo Fisher network. Train current senior staff on mRNA manufacturing capabilities presentations. Develop and present to external groups including trade associations and scientific organizations. Engage customers and operations staff for problem solving; collaborate with Marketing to publish scientific articles, white papers, and thought leadership to raise Thermo Fisher’s visibility in mRNA manufacturing. Education
B.S. in biological sciences with significant experience in molecular/cell biologic development and manufacturing; 9 years of industry experience. Masters or Ph.D. in biological sciences related to development with 7 years of industry experience. Experience
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in scale-up, optimization and GMP clinical and commercial mRNA production. Strong understanding of upstream and downstream activities to support mRNA manufacturing (plasmids, NTPs, capping, etc.). Experience with manufacturing of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) containing mRNA and optimization of formulations. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Subject Matter Expert in mRNA manufacturing. Understanding of cost drivers for development and GMP manufacturing. Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in mRNA synthesis and LNP production. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; strong presentation abilities. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and translate customer requirements to the quotations group and project management at project kickoff. Ability to travel monthly domestically and internationally as required by the Business Unit.
