Overview
Greater Lakes Mental Health is a key component of MultiCare’s Behavioral Health Network, providing mental health and substance use disorder treatment for over 10,000 individuals annually across Pierce County. We serve adults, children, and families with Medicaid coverage, with 6 convenient mental health care locations including a 16-bed inpatient facility offering voluntary and involuntary services to adults. Our experienced teams, veteran nurses, and robust training plans are designed to support success in facilitating recovery-oriented and trauma-informed treatment.
Position
Residential Counselor (Evening, 0.4 FTE) - Evening shift
Position Summary
Residential Counselors assist adults in BHN residential programs to develop their skills for recovery and wellness. They focus on helping residents attain or resume their capacity for independent living, providing hope and motivation as residents heal and build resiliency.
Responsibilities Provides counseling to help residents re-establish self-identity, sense of purpose and meaning in their lives, which may include developing plans for work, school, and/or volunteering, and making community connections.
Helps residents develop life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, money management, social skills and knowledge of symptoms and medications.
Creates treatment plans and discharge planning documents and delivers/reviews with residents.
Conducts individual and group counseling sessions.
Requirements AA degree in social services or related field preferred
One (1) year of experience working with mentally ill consumers in a residential setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration required within 90 days of placement in job
Current BLS Certification
Food handler’s cards required within 14 days of placement in job
Proof of a safe driving record may be required
Pay and Benefits
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. The pay scale is $18.75 - $26.99 USD, influenced by factors such as skill set, level of experience, and certifications/education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will reflect the applicable step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
