Arlington, VA About the Role: Planet’s Professional Services team helps our Government customers adopt the Planet Platform and rapidly realize return on investment in Planet data and analytics. The Professional Services Federal team is looking for a Solutions Engineer responsible for the implementation, integration, and analysis of new software and data products that extend the Planet Platform and deliver new capabilities to our federal customers. In this role, you will work with multiple internal teams to develop scripts and analyze data products for delivery to end users. Your work will be highly visible, directly impacting customers' ability to quickly access Planet's datasets, as well as streamline the internal processes for adding new customers to our platform. This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our Washington D.C office 3 days per week. Impact You'll Own: Expertise in remote sensing and geospatial technologies to help Planet’s Professional Services customers be successful in their adoption of the Planet Platform. Understand and align Professional Services project development to your customer’s business and technology strategies. Build software tools, proof of concept and sample applications, and continuously improve the applications that customers and developers experience using Planet’s APIs and analytics endpoints. Own the customer success lifecycle for Professional Services engagements, from scoping and discovery, to project execution and delivery. Responsibilities may include: writing requirements documents, applying your expertise in data analytics, collaborating with software engineers, leading a training event, or delivering solutions to a client. Champion Planet’s products and offerings in-person and online by providing training, presenting at conferences, writing technical tutorials, and publishing articles and videos. Influence the direction of Planet’s products and offerings by gathering insights from customer engagements and the user community. What You Bring: 2+ years industry experience working in the DoD/IC space Ability to program in Python to process imagery, manipulate vector data, interact with APIs and build data pipelines Familiarity with Linux systems and knowledge of shell scripting Expertise with QGIS, Esri software, GDAL or other common geospatial software Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and machine learning Ability to lead customer engagements Ability to run workshops or training sessions with users Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Remote Sensing, Geography or a related field. What Makes You Stand Out: Active or current TS/SCI Clearance Good problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar systems & code bases Ability to contribute ideas for new applications and processes that can optimize operations Systems integrations experience working with multi domain/multi level security architectures with the USG, particularly the DOD/IC Experience with RDBMS (PostgreSQL, SQL) and distributed databases (NoSQL) Experience in geopolitics and data science Ability to pick up new technologies quickly Experience with building analytical products from complex datasets GEOINT experience, imagery exploitation and analysis Experience in Multi-Domain/Multi-Level Security architectures Great cross-functional communication and collaboration, ranging from engaging with customer's commercial leadership, to their engineering teams Experience working independently or as part of a team Application Deadline: December 4, 2025 by 11:59PM PST Benefits These offerings are dependent on employment type and geographical location, based upon applicable law or company policy.
