Overview

We’re seeking a plug-and-play Controller who can step in and immediately make an impact. The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting leader with extensive experience in construction accounting, proven ability to manage complex operations across multiple offices, and a drive to optimize processes for efficiency, accuracy, and profitability. This position is fully onsite in Houston, Texas — no remote or hybrid flexibility — and will be instrumental in leading a growing accounting team and shaping the company’s financial infrastructure as it scales. Base pay range: $130,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr Full-Time | $150K + 10% Profit Sharing | Growth Path to CFO Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage accounting and reporting for multiple entities, reporting directly to the CFO Lead and mentor a team of 8–12 professionals across GL, AR, AP, Payroll, and Project Accounting Manage the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial statements Handle AIA billing, job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and burden allocations Maintain compliance with labor laws, sales tax, liens, and bond requirements Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data; evaluate and improve internal controls Lead financial and tax audit preparation Support integration efforts for future acquisitions Continuously identify and implement better, faster, and more cost-effective ways to operate Qualifications

10+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the construction or related industry 5+ years in a Controller-level leadership role Strong working knowledge of AIA billing, job costing, and work-in-progress methodologies Experience managing multi-location or multi-entity reporting structures Solid understanding of subcontracting business compliance (lien laws, labor, bonds, etc.) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred but not required Proficiency in MS Excel and Viewpoint Vista (or similar ERP system) Strategic thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills Hands-on, detail-driven mindset with the ability to execute independently Paid Vacation 401(k) Retirement Plan Professional Growth Path to CFO About the Company
