Overview Image Scientist - Journeyman role at KBR, Inc. The Image Scientist (Journeyman) provides expertise in imagery science, imagery analysis, and photogrammetry to enable detailed technical analysis of GEOINT product quality. This role supports the broad range of assessments and assessment tasks, both independently and with senior guidance, and supports algorithm development and validation related to imagery science tasks.

Responsibilities

Provide imagery scientist support through technical reviews, consultations, oversight of proposed and executed GEOINT product quality assessments and studies, and strategic level product quality direction.

Provide image processing algorithm validation and verification in support of GEOINT product quality assessments or ad hoc customer requests.

Provide imagery science services and analysis for GEOINT product quality assessments across traditional and non-traditional imaging systems, products, and data formats; including sensor fidelity, pixel registration, tonal transfer curve assessments, relative edge response, MTF and signal-to-noise ratio, and other product quality parameters.

Support algorithm development in imagery science tasks and assessment of various product quality parameters.

Provide photogrammetric services and engineering for imaging systems and products; assess product geolocation accuracy, mensuration accuracy, ground sample distance, and other photogrammetric analyses as directed.

Provide imagery analyst support through technical review, consultation, and oversight of proposed and executed product quality assessments and studies, and strategic level product quality direction.

Provide imagery analyst services in support of GEOINT product quality assessment planning, execution, and results analysis; imagery review, artifact analysis, NIIRS evaluations (absolute NIIRS, delta NIIRS, and ENS NIIRS), display performance assessments, etc.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

A minimum of 3 years of experience and a Bachelor of Science degree in image science, remote sensing, earth science, physical science, engineering, or similar field.

Strong experience with SAR, IR, Spectral, LIDAR, ArcGIS, RSI ENVI, and photogrammetry.

Experience in applied image processing and scientific analysis of imagery (SAR, IR, Spectral, Lidar), knowledge of image formation, and related phenomenology.

Experience in scientifically processing imagery from Civil and Commercial imaging systems, proficiency with techniques, algorithms, and analyses using RSI ENVI.

Experience with GOTS applications such as FSTK and AGITK.

Ability to work in a dynamic and demanding work environment; must be a self-starter and able to operate with little guidance.

Security Clearance Requirements Active TS/SCI (with Poly preferred).
