Assistant / Associate / Professor of Practice, College of Law Job Overview The University of Cincinnati College of Law seeks to fill this full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position with an expected start date of August 2026. The responsibilities include teaching first-year Lawyering courses and service to the College of Law. The Lawyering courses introduce legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. We invite applications from candidates with legal practice experience with an emphasis on legal research, writing, and oral advocacy, and/or with law school teaching experience. An applicant must have a J.D. with excellent academic achievement. Essential Functions Teach assigned courses including Lawyering I: Legal Research and Writing and Lawyering II: Advocacy. Prepare materials for teaching. Collaborate with other professors teaching in the Lawyering program to prepare materials and improve the program. Serve on College and/or University committees. Participate in faculty governance. Mentor and advise students in their development, including choices relating to the academic program, research and writing projects, and possible career directions. Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communication. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements J.D with excellent academic achievement. Excellent written and oral advocacy skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject. Demonstrated excellence in legal practice with an emphasis on legal research and writing, oral advocacy, and/or teaching. Demonstrated interest in professional development including knowledge and interest in current trends in teaching and learning in the field of legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team to identify and meet the goals of the team. Exercise self-discipline and have the ability to work with little direct supervision. Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Additional Qualifications Considered Recent teaching experience at the law school level, especially related to legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. Demonstrated interest in serving the profession and/or community. Interest in joining national organizations devoted to the growth and development of the field of teaching legal research, writing, and advocacy. Interest in supervising and mentoring student organizations. Relevant law school experiences such as law review, moot court, and/or trial team.
