Overview We are seeking a

Research Technician II - Tu Lab

to join the lab of Dr. Ben Tu at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. The Tu Lab investigates the relationship between cellular metabolism, nutrition, and fundamental regulatory processes. Working with mice, the team explores links between metabolism, cell growth, and disease in mammals, with implications for cancer, obesity, and various neurodegenerative conditions. What You’ll Do

Work with mammalian cell lines to conduct nutritional or drug perturbations and investigate the resulting consequences using molecular biology, biochemical, or microscopy-based assays.

Prepare various solutions and media; develop recipes based on concentrations of ingredients.

Independently conduct a variety of assays depending on the project's needs.

Attend lab meetings and planning sessions.

Participate in and possibly lead research projects.

Skills You Bring

A bachelor's degree (or higher) in a biology-related discipline.

General experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.

Strong initiative, self-motivation, and capacity for creative problem solving.

Strong multitasking skills and time management.

Ability to use good judgment in managing deadlines and responding to inquiries.

Meticulous attention to detail with emphasis on keeping records of experiments and results.

Physical Requirements Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods; reaching and grasping; dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers; communication skills; normal vision and hearing; mobility to move around the workspace. The position may involve exposure to malodorous vapors, low-dose radiation, and hazardous materials. Requests for reasonable accommodation will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Compensation And Benefits Compensation range: $41,600.00 (minimum) – $67,600.00 (maximum) with a midpoint of $52,037.34. Pay Type: Annual. HHMI's salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data and considers education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal consistency when making offers. New hires typically fall between the minimum and midpoint in this location.
