Overview
The Senior Patient Financial Navigator at MultiCare assists patients and families to access financial resources. In this position, you will evaluate the financial situations of uninsured or underinsured patients and determine eligibility for financial assistance, helping to ensure health care for all community members. Responsibilities
Explain topics of insurance coverage, treatment costs, local and national alternative coverage opportunities, and financial assistance opportunities to the patient, relative or patient’s representative Provide expertise and education in Medicaid eligibility, Social Security Disability and any available government programs Work with self-pay patients that do not qualify for government assistance programs to resolve accounts Recommend patient services for charity write-off Qualifications
Associate’s degree with business emphasis, public health administration or similar degree preferred One (1) year of business or college coursework required - relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements Completion of a medical terminology course or proficiency preferred Certified as an Application Counselor (CAC) or obtain certification within 90 days of hire Five (5) years of experience in healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification and/or precertification, third party payer, Medicaid case work or billing experience, of which two years is as a Washington State Certified Navigator Seniority level
