Overview
Talent Acquisition Partner at Primoris Services Corporation The Civil Engineer II/III is responsible for technical design, planning, and operations support for land development and site infrastructure projects across the U.S. Their primary function will be leading proposal-level and preliminary design efforts focused on grading, earthwork, drainage, and site optimization. The Civil Engineer II/III will work closely with the Estimating Department, Operations, and Senior Leadership to ensure designs are accurate, balanced, cost-effective, and compliant with local, state, and federal requirements across all project locations.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Review client-provided reports such as geotechnical, topographical, hydrological, and environmental studies to inform site layout and grading design.
Develop 10–30% level civil designs including grading, drainage, stormwater management, access roads, and erosion control.
Perform earthwork analysis including
cut/fill, site balancing, and drainage modeling
using Civil 3D or similar software.
Work closely with Procurement to evaluate materials, geotechnical solutions, and design alternatives to maintain efficiency and cost competitiveness.
Collaborate with Estimating to ensure all design scope, quantities, and site development requirements are captured accurately.
Partner with clients to understand site-specific needs and lead the engineering team to conceptualize efficient, constructible land development designs.
Support project teams and the Engineer of Record throughout design and construction, addressing grading, drainage, and civil design questions.
Review and provide feedback on civil design packages and drawings at 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC milestones.
Education & Experience Requirements
B.S. Degree in
Civil Engineering
(or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited program.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not a requirement.
6+ years of experience in civil design, grading, and site development.
Preference for experience in
land development, infrastructure, renewable energy, or large-scale construction
projects.
Proficient in
AutoCAD Civil 3D , earthwork modeling, grading optimization, and stormwater design.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to drainage, stormwater, and erosion control.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; travel up to 15%.
Preferred Skills / Abilities
Strong understanding of
cut/fill optimization, site balancing, and grading design best practices.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams and clients.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and civil design tools (Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS preferred).
Ability to read and produce construction drawings with clear attention to layout, references, and notes.
Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple active projects.
Commitment to safety and quality in all design and field work.

$90,000–$160,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications.
