Technical Sales Engineer/Specialist
supports our Engineering and Sales Support Teams, providing pre- and post-sales technical support for the development and implementation of complex products, applications, and solutions. This role reports to the Engineered Solution Supervisor of our Water Infrastructure – Transport division and collaborates with sales, customer support, and project management teams. Responsibilities
Provide pre-sales technical support during feasibility, design, and tender stages to outside sales, distributors, and consulting engineers, assessing potential applications of company products and preparing detailed product specifications for customer solutions. Assist Engineering to provide technical and product expertise, researching data to meet customer needs and solve problems. Collaborate with internal colleagues, subject matter experts, and technical/commercial resources to review tender documents. Support the sales team in quotation creation for engineered projects. Contribute as a technical consultant in preparing and reviewing project bid packages. Provide product and application expertise, design support, and technical drawing support; advise on technical requests and implications related to projects. Review technical documentation for project viability and feasibility. Work with Engineering to prepare and review technical submittals and follow up with customers for approval. Ensure submitted drawings comply with specifications and address customer questions promptly. Coordinate with third-party vendors to meet customer requirements and support post-sale activities. Assist project managers with technical solutions and support application engineers in customer service and operations training. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience required 0-2+ years of relevant experience; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and recent graduates welcomed Ability to apply consistent business processes to achieve results and adapt to changing needs Commitment to superior customer service and effective written and verbal communication Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Team-oriented with strong organizational abilities and the ability to multi-task Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related computer applications Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications
Mechanical engineering or automation degree Knowledge of mechanical and pumping designs; hydraulics; pneumatics; water flow; diesel, gas, and electric motors Day In The Life
Occasional light lifting (10-25 lbs.) and exposure to job site environments Regularly sit/stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility Frequent communication with employees and customers Occasional exposure to job site conditions (gas fields, refineries, mills, mines, construction sites, wastewater plants); shop noise and fumes possible Travel as required to fulfill duties Join Xylem’s mission to provide smart metering, network technologies, and advanced analytics for water utilities and beyond.
