An electric utility client is looking for a
Transmission and Substation Engineer
who will perform review of Generation Interconnection Requests, under the WDAT and Rule 21 Tariff, ensuring technical data is complete and appropriate to perform a study.
Location: Pomona, CA 91768 (Onsite)
Position: Transmission and Substation Engineer
Pay Rate : $86.01/hr. on W2
Duration : 12 months or longer
Schedule: 1 st shift, M-F, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM???????
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, coordinate, and support various stakeholders from the company’s Engineering, Project Management, Grid Contracts, Environmental, and Land Management groups to develop major projects and their associated scope and cost.
Perform pre-scoping activities for reliability projects, such as defining project viability and alternatives and preparing project summaries.
Support preparation of core team-licensing documentation and coordination through the project initiation process.
Perform assignments acting independently and lead intradepartmental technical teams.
Provide recommendations and implement action plans to improve Transmission models based on industry guidance and recommendations.
Demonstrate SCE’s values and guiding behaviors as it pertains to safety, integrity, excellence, respect, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Other tasks may include (but are not limited to) the following:
Identi?es, develops, tests, and implements grid innovation and high-tech solutions, develops and implements system and asset strategies through grid planning, design, and risk analysis to achieve company strategy and directs business and operating plans.
Performs engineering functions that initiates work plans, sets standards, work methods, and prioritization for operations, production, construction, inspection and maintenance organizations.
Plans, designs modi?es scope, estimates cost, and sponsors the execution of structures, facilities, systems and components.
Performs analyses, designs solutions, develops construction documents, estimates time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of additions or modi?cations to existing structures, facilities, systems and components.
Analyzes, develops solutions to engineering problems related to equipment and systems or the causes of component or system failures.
Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures and provides advice on issues within the engineering ?eld.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor Degree in a Scientific/Technical/Math field
Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Engineering experience with utility transmission and/or distribution planning processes.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience supporting the development of testimony for regulatory proceedings and environmental licensing.
Familiarity with industry committees, subcommittees, working groups, and task forces as it pertains to Transmission and Distribution planning.
Experience using GE PSLF and/or PowerWorld simulation software.
Engineering experience related to modeling and performing power system analyses on transmission systems (i.e., typically 220 kV and 500 kV).
