Project Engineer, Commissioning - Data Center Facilities

Job Description Ramboll's Data Center Facilities team is a leader in Data Center Strategy, Planning, Design, Integration, Commissioning, and Testing, with experience in thousands of data centers worldwide. We serve enterprise, institutional, web-scale, service provider, and colocation clients. Our consultants help clients optimize data proximity to their customers, integrating IT and facilities for rapid deployment and achieving critical objectives. We focus on creating flexible environments adaptable to change and disruptions, while minimizing risks and enhancing efficiency. Responsibilities Act as a commissioning agent for mechanical systems, including cooling/heating, plumbing, fire, fuel oil, and BMS systems. Manage projects, plans, specifications, and execute multidisciplinary engineering commissioning for large facilities. Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and related documentation. Follow quality management and QC procedures to validate and document systems. Gather and assemble documentation from clients, vendors, and contractors. Develop site-specific commissioning plans and review factory witness test procedures. Attend factory tests and report deficiencies. Lead commissioning meetings and ensure proper documentation. Develop and conduct functional tests for various mechanical systems. Maintain commissioning logs, checklists, and write final reports. Manage external resources, coordinate meetings, and participate in construction and coordination meetings. Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams. Provide progress reports and respond to customer inquiries. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in mechanical/controls engineering, energy services, plant operations, or related fields. Experience in data center or mission-critical environments. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems commissioning and maintenance. Experience working with general contractors and strong communication skills. Understanding of industry regulations, codes, standards, and construction materials. Additional Information The U.S. pay range is $86,000 - $135,000 annually, excluding bonuses and benefits. Salary depends on location, experience, and skills.
