Overview
My client is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Civil/Environmental Engineer to join the team. The role focuses on technical work and project management—independently on smaller projects or as a team member on larger projects. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to grow professionally. There is flexibility for this role to be full-time or part-time (minimum ~30 hours per week). Participate and support a wide variety of water-related projects, including project management activities, planning and conceptual design, and detailed design and implementation. Perform or review all aspects of design (grading, drainage, water, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence. Requirements
Strong understanding of hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and conveyance engineering design, including open channel, bank stabilization, stream restoration, geotechnical, and civil design. Excellent time management skills with a thorough understanding of task assignment, scheduling, and budgeting. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with efficient use of time and resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail. Proficiency in hydrology modeling and 1D & 2D hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, SWMM, RAS) and knowledge of design software (GIS, CAD) – working experience a plus. Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, etc. Lead water resource planning studies for conveyance, flood analysis, water quality, and ecological benefits. Prepare technical reports, concept designs, construction specifications, construction drawings, bidding documents, and permit applications for approval. Participate in the permitting process of projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel, and governing entities. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental or civil engineering or related field. Licensed Professional Engineer or able to obtain licensure within 6 to 12 months of employment; expected to become licensed in MN and ND at minimum. Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
