Overview

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number PDD1525000 and is part of the MA ANG 104th FW, National Guard. This is a Bargaining Unit position. (1) Directs, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more aircraft. Work is performed in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints, including all weather and night operations. Coordinates and oversees the work of subordinate aircraft mechanics and journey-level workers in other trades. Performs battle damage assessment/repair, mission generation/regeneration operations, and directs specialists in preparing aircraft for combat operations. Conducts preflight, postflight, thru flight, periodic, isochronal, phase, hourly and special inspections, servicing, defueling, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Serves as technical authority for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine and pneudraulic repairs. Works with production control to report status and coordinate support for maintenance exceeding sortie generation capabilities. Assigns maintenance and repair functions to subordinates. Oversees aircraft servicing to meet mission requirements. Observes and inspects work for compliance with technical publications, directives and policy. Performs operational tests of systems and components; directs ground movement, launch and recovery of aircraft; performs end of runway inspections. Diagnoses and resolves malfunctions using diagnostics and diagrams; conducts maintenance such as troubleshooting, replacing, rigging, aligning, cleaning and corrosion control. May assist DEPOT level maintenance on discrepancies. Ensures mission equipment is available and serviceable for deployment and employment. (2) Ensures aircraft documentation and MIS reflect airworthiness. Provides technical guidance to flight crews regarding discrepancies and in-flight characteristics. Assists in aircrew debriefing when required. (3) Performs in-process and final inspection of aircraft and components to verify compliance with procedures and quality standards. Makes decisions to ensure mission completion; clears Red X symbols and conducts engine power runs if required. (4) Plans, develops and conducts training for a multi-faceted workforce (3 to 8 positions). Conducts Cross Utilization Training and maintains CFETP for assigned members. *(7) Performs other duties as assigned.* Requirements

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible, contact a National Guard recruiter.
