Arcadis is currently seeking a highly motivated Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join our Power Delivery team. The position consists of coordinating and developing the Power System Planning & Study team and performing HVAC and/or HVDC planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies, and systems analysis investigations for clients in North America primarily, but also globally. Role accountabilities: Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study & planning projects within regulated, non-regulated, developer, or other industrial clients. Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis, etc. Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice. Delivery of accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summary, and other client system study deliverables that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability. Responsible for QA on client reports and deliverables. Maintaining close coordination and helping other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross-selling and cross-staffing opportunities, as well as developing project scopes, budgets, and proposals. Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of direct experience with experience in power system study analysis and planning. Must be proficient with the PSSE software package, including load-flow, short-circuit, and transient stability analysis. Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable. Must be familiar and experienced with key North American Market Operators (i.e., MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, requirements, and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance, and planning, especially related to bulk power systems. Preferred Qualifications PE license.
