What You'll Be Doing
WORKING CONDITIONS/ HAZARDS:
Frequent contact with water (handwashing, biohazardous body fluids); possible needle punctures; possible sensitivity to latex. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standing, walking, bending, sitting, light lifting. CONTACTS:
Patients (families), physicians, nurses, laboratory and other hospital personnel. MAIN FUNCTIONS:
The Phlebotomist performs venipuncture and related procedures according to hospital and laboratory policies and procedures. May work independently in the lab with little supervision. QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should have adequate phlebotomy experience in a hospital, outpatient drawing station, or high-volume doctor's office. Good computer skills are a plus, including potential experience as a super user for the department's LIS system, ensuring system functionality, reporting issues, and testing during upgrades. What We're Looking For
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate or equivalent. EXPERIENCE:
Minimum one year; hospital setting experience preferred. LICENSURE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred; excellent customer service skills.
