The Principal Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of Workday Financials solutions within the organization. This role involves leading moderate to complex projects, providing technical guidance, and mentoring junior engineers. The Principal Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure that solutions meet business requirements and align with strategic goals. Key responsibilities include driving innovation, improving software quality, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This position requires a deep understanding of Workday configuration and integration development engineering principles, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Minimum Requirements

3+ years experience interfacing and partnering with vendors 3+ years experience assisting in strategy/roadmap and planning Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar project management tools Strong communication skills at all organizational levels Strong debugging skills 2+ years experience leading/mentoring junior staff Highly self-motivated, results-driven, able to work independently 5+ years experience with SharePoint 5+ years experience with IT ticketing software (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA) 3+ years experience with agile/waterfall methodologies 3+ years experience with Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence or similar tools 5+ years experience working with distributed teams 7+ years experience with Corporate Accounting processes and Application development/support in Workday 7+ years experience with Workday functional areas like Financials, Procurement, Revenue Management 7+ years experience with Workday Integration types (EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Studio) 7+ years experience creating Workday reports and calculated fields 7+ years experience integrating Workday with third-party vendors Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership to engineering teams Understand dependencies, interfaces, and services of system components Prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment Design and develop application solutions Develop detailed technical specifications Lead development from detailed designs Configure, develop, and perform unit testing following development processes Conduct code reviews Debug and resolve complex issues Implement system changes without introducing new issues Stay updated on software techniques and improve own skills Transfer knowledge within the team Negotiate scope and schedule with business partners Lead or support production and end-user support Ensure quality of technical deliverables Participate in planning discussions with business partners Organize and manage projects ensuring SDLC adherence Become a subject matter expert on assigned components Develop enterprise solutions in collaboration with business Adapt to changing requirements flexibly Additional Characteristics
