Overview
Per-Diem Behavioral Health Therapist (OPS SD) is a role at Alvarado Parkway Institute Behavioral Health System (API). Our programs emphasize symptom management, community integration, and prevention of hospitalization or re-hospitalization. Responsibilities
Establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships to foster inter- and intra-departmental communications necessary for the delivery of quality patient care; respond to requests for information from patients, families, and caregivers; provide directions as necessary; reflect the confidentiality of patient and organization information; communicate pertinent information as necessary by telephone and/or writing. Provide group psychotherapy, psychoeducation and, where appropriate, family counseling to facilitate patient attainment of goals; use recognized, effective interventions; provide crisis intervention as needed; adhere to billing and documentation guidelines. Complete all mandatory third-party notifications per organizational policies and procedures and community/legal requirements; represent the facility in any legal proceedings as required. Display cultural sensitivity with regards to patients and staff. Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development. .Perform all other related tasks as required. Qualifications
Master’s degree in social work, MFT, psychology, or equivalent master’s degree in a recognized mental health field. Registration (ASW, AMFT, APCC) or licensed with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology is required; must be license-eligible. Knowledge of acute adult psychological disorders; familiarity with related regulatory compliance and reporting requirements; computer software applications; understanding of department/program objectives. Experience facilitating groups with a seriously mentally ill (SMI) population is highly preferred. Work Requirements and Skills
Flexibility, willingness to learn, and a sense of humor. Skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention for patients with acute psychosis and non-violent crises. Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation; ability to problem solve and develop feasible solutions; collaborate effectively within a team. Skills in facilitating group psychotherapy; ability to maintain confidentiality; capacity to adapt to cross-training as needed. Education, Experience, and Certifications (Required)
Master’s degree in social work, MFT, psychology, or equivalent master’s degree in a recognized mental health field. Registration (ASW, AMFT, APCC) or licensure with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology; must be licensed eligible. Education, Experience, and Certifications (Preferred)
Experience in outpatient or inpatient settings is preferred. Physical Requirements
Use standard office equipment; operate a computer; keyboarding and manual dexterity requirements; communicate effectively with a diverse population. Perform complex mental functions, interpret complex laws/regulations/policies; coordinate multiple tasks; lift up to 15 pounds; stand/walk for extended periods as needed. Conditions of Employment
