Construction Inspector – Structural

Responsibilities include:
Review contract plans, specifications, contractors’ schedules, and safety regulations to understand obligations and plans;
Ensure compliance with the Metrorail Safety Rules and Procedures Handbook (MSRPH);
Oversee inspections of Metrorail tunnels and shafts to assess workmanship and material quality, ensuring conformity to contract documents and codes;
Monitor safety practices and address unsafe practices on-site;
Document daily construction activities, including equipment, materials, and work progress;
Conduct inspections for project milestones and final acceptance;
Prepare punch-lists and monitor correction of deficiencies;
Coordinate with crew support personnel and perform on-site material testing;
Perform other duties as assigned by WMATA’s Task Manager.
Background and experience required:
At least 7 years of experience in construction engineering, with 5 years in structural rehabilitation projects;
Ability to interpret complex contract documents and drawings;
Experience with welding, non-destructive testing, and concrete testing;
Certification in general building construction, inspection, or code enforcement from a recognized authority.
Salary Range: $56,000 to $86,000 per year.
