Behavioral Health Outreach Specialist role at ITXL – join to apply. Location: South King County (Renton/Burien, WA). Salary Range: $72,500-$74,500. Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm. This position is full-time and requires in-person direct service in Seattle and occasionally other sites throughout King County. Responsibilities
The Outreach Team focuses on engaging clients living on streets and encampments with low barrier resource navigation, maintaining engagement with case management services, and establishing partnerships with other providers to coordinate care. Provide assessments and referrals to shelter, case management, behavioral and physical healthcare, substance use treatment, harm reduction resources, and housing when possible. Ensure services are person-centered, strengths-based, traumainformed, culturally relevant, and delivered from a harm reduction perspective to promote client autonomy and dignity. Forge pathways and partnerships with outpatient mental health and substance use treatment providers, emergency departments, community-based organizations, and neighborhood businesses. Pair with REACH staff to engage people living outside with unmet mental health and substance use treatment needs; coordinate linkage to appropriate services (e.g., outpatient behavioral health programs and crisis-oriented programs). Conduct warm handoffs from streets to behavioral health appointments and from hospitals/jails to community placements. Provide risk-reduction, safer use strategies, substance use assessment, intervention, and linkage to MOUD and recovery supports. Serve as a subject matter expert helping clients access behavioral health and substance use treatment; provide consultation to REACH staff. Provide behavioral health and substance use services across the continuum of care, including traditional outpatient treatment, crisis care, and outreach-based services. Meet clients where they are; conduct outreach at various sites in King County and provide in-person services as needed. Qualifications
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; undergraduate degree in social services preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience in social work or outreach programs. Experience serving individuals experiencing homelessness and behavioral health conditions from a harm reduction perspective. Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of racial justice and social equity; ability to work with diverse clients and staff. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information. Knowledge of King County resources for behavioral health and substance use treatment preferred. Computer literate with basic Microsoft Office skills and adaptability to technology changes. Physical Conditions and Requirements: Possible exposure to illicit drug residues or bio-hazardous materials; training and policies are in place to limit risk. Routine physical demands include sitting, using hands, reaching, standing, walking, kneeling, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. Local travel is required. Equipment Used: Computer, photocopier, fax, phone, tablets; program vehicle may be used with valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
