Overview
MIG/TIG Welder role for Express Employment Professionals - Mesquite. Location: Mesquite, TX (Sunnyvale TX listed in original; primary location shown as Mesquite). Title: MIG Welder 2nd Shift. Hours: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday 3:30pm–12:00am (OT on Saturdays as needed). Type: Temp-to-Perm. Pay Rate: $16.00–$18.00/hr, starting rate based on prior experience and test results. Our client is seeking experienced welders/fitters in fabrication and/or assembly of heavy structural weldments and/or construction industry equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform welding duties using FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Weld in various positions. Weld steel components on equipment in accordance with blueprints, diagrams, work orders, instructions (oral and written), processes, procedures, layouts, and all other quality requirements. Handle individual welds ranging from simple tack welds to complex welds, using templates and fixtures to modify, fabricate, or repair equipment parts and/or products. Operate tools and equipment such as air tools, welding gun, grinders, wrenches, hammers, cutting torches, drills, punches, scrapers, and more; operate forklifts, cranes, and overhead hoists with rigging equipment as needed. Perform preventive maintenance on welding equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, follow manufacturer instructions, request repairs, and complete daily check sheets. Meet Vince Hagan welding qualification requirements (AWS 4G minimum for Welder positions). Inspect, clean, and improve welds to meet Vince Hagan product and quality specifications; continually seek improvement in skills, efficiency, and output quality. Use a computer to access documents, perform data entry in the Company’s ERP system, and other basic computer tasks. Fulfill work requirements per Vince Hagan quality standards, including quality checks and form completion for production and quality processes. Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment per company guidelines and Hazardous Waste Management programs. Conserve resources through efficient use of equipment and supplies; handle Vince Hagan property with care and keep it on premises. Collaborate professionally with coworkers, customers, and management; comply with Vince Hagan policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Perform or assist with other duties as qualified and trained. Must complete and maintain forklift operation certification and be able to safely operate a forklift when required.
Education/Experience
Must pass an administered weld test to be considered for this position. High School Diploma or GED preferred. 2 years of MIG welding experience required; TIG experience not required. Relevant trade school or college coursework desired. Ability to read tape measures and understand job-related blueprints. Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired. Computer experience desired. Bilingual speakers are desired. Dependable and able to complete assignments accurately and on time. Adaptable in solving problems and addressing new situations, policy changes, and new ideas. Ability to work effectively alone with minimal supervision and as part of a team; good communication skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions and handle production deadlines under stress.
