Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
Experience: Experience in a Special Education classroom setting
Licenses or Certifications: valid state certification in Special Education and content is required
BCBA preferred

Prepares for ARD meetings (e.g., holds staffings, prepares ARD documentation, schedules meetings)
Effectively uses district technology applications when facilitating the ARD process
Effectively maintain ARD documents in a timely manner, which includes locking, distributing and turning in documentation (e.g., ARDs, FIEs) to Special Education Records
Maintain confidential campus folders with the information needed to address student needs
Monitor/facilitate communication between general and special education staff regarding all elements of the IEP (e.g., goals, accommodations, behavior intervention plans).
Collaborate with campus/district staff to ensure compliance with state assessment requirements
Collaborate with the campus Principal and Team Leader/Department Chair to provide support and guidance to the campus special education team, including conducting special education department meetings and disseminating information regarding SBISD's special education policies/procedures
Compile appropriate reports and documentation as requested by district Special Education Director, Coordinators, Supervisors, and Facilitators.
Attend all required training related to job functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities Student Growth and Development
Support the mission of school district by promoting the development of appropriate programs and services for students with disabilities.
Assist with needs of students with physical disabilities.
Communication
Establish and maintain open communication by encouraging parent participation in ARD meetings.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Collaborate with others to provide for learner needs.
Consult with parents and other appropriate school personnel concerning each student's intellectual, academic social, emotional and physical development.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Keep informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and policies.
Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required.
Other
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress.
Work with frequent interruptions.
This position requires regular interacting with the public.
Physical Demands:
Frequent and/or prolonged standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing
Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desk and other classroom equipment.
Physical capacity to lift, transfer and otherwise assist students with physical disabilities (e.g. ability to lift 50 lbs).
