Oakland, CA . Accountabilities
Configure and test network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and radio communications hardware (base stations, antennas, DAS). Configure network protocols (IP addressing, routing protocols) and radio protocols (LMR and wideband). Perform and be accountable for verification and validation activities starting in the factory until system hand over Perform site surveys on railroad property to lay out basic equipment. Supervise installations of Fiber Optic Cabling Systems and data communications systems Test Network, radio and fiber systems Troubleshoot network and radio equipment, conduct network performance tests, identifying, and resolving any connectivity issues or radio signal interference. Create checklists and reports including system configuration, test results and any identified issues. Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with medium/complex networks and in radio deployment. Working Knowledge of network design patterns, constraints and protocols (networking certification preferred) Working knowledge of Switching and Routing protocols Working knowledge of wireless communications in demanding scenarios Excellent ability to use test equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and a spectrum analyzer. Working knowledge of Test and commissioning processes. Skilled in handling electric, electronic, and mechanical drawings and schematics. Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information. Desired Skills & Experience
System integration, ensuring seamless integration between the network and radio systems, including synchronization and interoperability. Radio Frequency/Telecommunications Qualifications/University Degree From 2 to 5 years of Railway System Engineering and Commissioning expertise Education
Bachelor\'s Degree in an Engineering related discipline Language
English Proficiency In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions. The salary range for this position is $126,000 - $189,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location. Benefits
