We are now hiring a Lead Children's House Guide for our Guidepost Montessori School in San Rafael. Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply. Your Role: We’re looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Lead Guide (Teacher) to support a mixed-age class of preschool-age children in a Montessori environment. Guides prepare an environment that fosters independence, provide personalized support, work with children individually and in small groups, demonstrate how to use materials, and give precise language to help children understand their experiences. Montessori classrooms emphasize exploration and long, self-directed work to help each child develop skills, confidence, and a sense of capability. We seek a Lead Guide who will bring their best to help every child reach their highest potential. Responsibilities
Observe each child closely to understand and meet their physical, intellectual, and emotional needs Prepare an orderly environment that fosters concentration, independence, and deep learning Cultivate independence and self-confidence by helping children do things for themselves Provide individual and small-group lessons to support development in practical skills, literacy, math, and more Form personal connections with each child and cultivate a community of respect Communicate and collaborate respectfully with parents to provide the best possible support for every child The Montessori Prepared Environment
Every classroom at Guidepost provides high-quality Montessori materials for the Children’s House curriculum, with a budget for guides to personalize the space. Classrooms are designed to enable every child to learn, concentrate, and achieve independence. Child-sized furniture and ample floor space for independent work or small-group work Practical life materials for daily tasks Curriculum for independence, including dressing, feeding, and caring for the space Hands-on materials for math, literacy, science, and more Materials accessible on low shelves with art at the child’s level Cozy reading areas, real plants, and natural light Breakable objects made from natural materials rather than plastic Ideal Candidate
Obtained or willing to obtain a Montessori diploma for 3-6 Experience with children ages 3-6 in group settings such as daycare, aftercare, or preschool Familiarity with child-led philosophies such as Reggio Emilia or Montessori and/or openness to learning more 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development credits Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or Child Development What We Offer
