Day Shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (09:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

Night Shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (07:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Position Overview Seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a Pediatric Stepdown unit focused on rehabilitation (not PCU). The unit cares for pediatric and adolescent patients with complex medical conditions including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, burns, feeding disorders, and more. Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients in a stepdown/rehabilitation setting.

Manage patients with diagnoses such as TBI, spinal cord injury, gunshot wounds, burns, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, failure to thrive, post-orthopedic surgical cases requiring intensive PT/OT/ST.

Deliver respiratory care including tracheostomy and ventilator management.

Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care.

Support gastrointestinal care including feedings and tube placements.

Follow infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including PT, OT, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services.

Float within specialty units and lower acuity units as needed.

Qualifications

Active Maryland or Compact RN License at time of submission.

Minimum of 2 years nursing experience (non-negotiable), with pediatric stepdown or similar experience.

Required certifications: BLS, CPI (Calm Every Storm online version preferred).

Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience required.

Comfortable with 1:4 patient ratios during day, night, and weekends.

Must be able to float within hospital units without restrictions.

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions).

COVID-19 vaccine not required.

Unit Details

Patient Age Groups: Pediatrics and Adolescents

Patient Diagnoses: TBI, spinal cord injury, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, post-orthopedic surgery, respiratory and cardiac cases requiring tracheostomy/ventilation.

Interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and more.
