Electrical Engineer
Fibertek, Inc. is a leading developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace community, with key contributions to lasers for atmospheric sensing, laser communications, and lidar sensors for NASA, DoD, and commercial customers. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our division at Herndon, VA to contribute to the development of products in our R&D division.
Your Job
The successful candidate will work on small teams to develop, verify, and upgrade the electronics of fiber-optic systems. Responsibilities include circuit board development, firmware (FPGA & CPU) development, cable/harness design, documentation (design docs, test reports, etc.), system integration and testing, troubleshooting, and analysis. The role involves managing multiple projects, including quick-turn and long-term initiatives. You will be part of an agile small business with a dedicated team of experienced technology and business leaders. Your key responsibilities will include:
Circuit board and system level development, integration, and testing
Analysis and troubleshooting
Firmware development, integration, and testing
Preparation of test reports, design documents, and other technical documentation
Participation in field tests and experiments
Contributing to technical proposals
Required Skills and Experience BSEE with 4-10 years of relevant experience
Experience with circuit board design, integration, troubleshooting, and use of electrical lab equipment
Strong communication and documentation skills
Hands-on experience and willingness to participate in field tests and experiments
Bonus Areas Experience with FPGA/CPLD design, simulation, troubleshooting
Experience with embedded CPU/microcontroller firmware development, integration, troubleshooting
