Title Info Systems Facilitator (Hybrid)

The Laboratory Info Systems (LIS) Facilitator primarily serves to manage and support specific computer information systems to meet unit/department-specific needs. This support can take the form of analysis, troubleshooting, implementation, workflow development, testing and maintenance of various hardware and software. May be responsible for the development and delivery of system specific training for internal and external users. May be responsible for coordination in the acquisition of computerized solutions. The LIS Facilitator interacts directly with internal and external customers, other Laboratory Info Systems team members and Information Technology staff.

Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Materials Management Info Systems (MMIS)

The Materials Management Info Systems (MMIS) Facilitator primarily serves to manage and support specific computer information systems to meet unit/department-specific needs. This support can take the form of analysis, troubleshooting, implementation, workflow development, testing and maintenance of various hardware and software. May be responsible for the development and delivery of system specific training for internal and external users. May be responsible for coordination in the acquisition of computerized solutions. The MMIS Facilitator interacts directly with internal and external customers, other Materials Management Info Systems team members and Information Technology staff.

Bachelor's Degree.

3-5 years experience within specific discipline required.

Previous experience training, managing, and implementing computerized information systems strongly preferred.

(Not applicable to Materials Management Info Systems or Finance Info Systems) Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician-MLT, Medical Technologist-MT (pre 2004 certifications only), Medical Laboratory Scientist-MLS, Histotechnician-HT, Histotechnologist-HTL or Cytotechnologist-CT from ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) strongly preferred. All individuals who are certified (since January 1, 2004) must maintain ongoing certification through completion of the required Competency Maintenance Program (CMP) from the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) BOC accrediting body.

• Must have the ability to manage projects, lead, analyze, troubleshoot, implement and maintain various computer systems.

• Must have previous experience with computer systems and applications, specifically related to those being supported.

• Must have advanced communication skills, both verbal and written and have the ability to instruct end users with varying knowledge levels and learning styles.

• Must be able to recognize and react to multiple and changing priorities to meet deadlines.

• Must have strong attention for detail.

• Must have working knowledge of office-based software solutions (word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, etc.).

Work which produces very high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g. Computer based work between 70 and 90 percent of the time, and work involving extremely close tolerances and considerable hand/eye coordination for sustained periods of time.

The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular sitting, walking, standing, stooping, bending, and some lifting of light weight objects.

Implementation

• Assists in defining user and technical requirements for new or revised systems.

• Leads implementations of new and revised systems by overseeing installation, system testing, interfacing, data conversion and migration.

• Determines and validates role and workflow of computer information systems by consulting with department leaders and other personnel to meet organizational and departmental goals.

• Researches and analyzes products for future implementation.

Facilitation

• Manages complex problem resolution, which may include serving as liaison between internal or external customers, Information Technology support staff, product vendors and other healthcare facilities.

• Designs, manipulates and provides data output as requested for specific departmental needs.

• Analyze data output for improvement opportunities.

• Prepares schedule for and manages process of preventative maintenance and system audits to ensure minimal system interruption.

• Ensures appropriate documentation of all system processes and modifications.

• Develops training materials and functions as primary training source for end users.

• Department-specific duties in addition to these may be assigned as necessary.
