As a Lead Embedded Hardware Engineer, architect and develop state-of-the-art embedded systems for real-time controls and communication applications. Lead and contribute to advanced research and development programs for GE Aerospace as well as with U.S. Government Agencies. Collaborate with researchers from a range of technology disciplines and contribute to projects across GE Aerospace programs. Work independently as well as with a team to develop and apply advanced software technologies for embedded controls and communication systems for GE Aerospace products. Interact with hardware suppliers and engineering tool providers to identify the best solutions for challenging applications. Lead small to medium-sized projects or tasks. Document technology and results through patent applications, technical reports, and publications. Expand expertise by staying current with advances in embedded hardware to seek out new ideas and applications. Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience OR a master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience OR a Ph.D. with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience. Strong background in hardware development for FPGA devices (Xilinx, Lattice, Microsemi, etc.). Willingness to travel at least 2 weeks per year. Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance. Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY. Ideal Candidate Characteristics
Experience with Xilinx Vivado and Microchip Libero in both user-driven and scripted modes. Ability to construct and run testbenches in simulation tools (e.g., Questa Core/Prime). Experience with fiber and copper network interfaces inside an FPGA. Experience with peripheral busses (DDR, UART, SPI, I2C). Ability to implement source-synchronous interfaces for high-speed ADC and video interfaces. Proficiency with lab equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers). Ability to read electrical schematics and vendor IC datasheets; read and understand device drivers written in C and AARCH64 Assembly for bare metal, RTOS, and Linux. Ability to write simple device drivers. Knowledge of MATLAB HDL coder or Xilinx System Generator for control algorithm implementations. Proficiency with a Linux-based development environment (bash, python, git, gcc, etc.). Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this position is 90,000 - 175,000 USD annually. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of base salary. GE Aerospace also offers health, retirement, and other benefits as described by the company policies. Additional Information
