The purpose of the Manufacturing Manager role is to manage and provide oversight of a Work Centered Team (WCT) whose primary responsibility is the execution of Cell Therapy manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Manager ensures their WCT members maintain a culture of safety, compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement within the Manufacturing Operations function. This position reports to Senior Manager, Manufacturing. Shift Available: Wednesday - Saturday (with every other Wednesday off), Onsite Night Shift, 5 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. Responsibilities
Lead and oversee a Work Centered Team (WCT) to execute Cell Therapy manufacturing processes.
Ensure WCT members maintain safety, compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement within Manufacturing Operations.
Provide daily, weekly, and monthly communication of WCT performance to functional and site leadership.
Hire personnel who meet job description criteria and BMS values within budgetary and fiscal requirements.
Develop and manage Workday profiles for new hires and administer annual performance reviews.
Priorities & Training
Set WCT priorities aligned with site and functional goals; monitor and report performance metrics.
Ensure WCTs have CAR-T GMP manufacturing training appropriate for a multi-product commercial facility; maintain 100% on-time training completion.
Ensure personnel are proficient and qualified to perform manufacturing tasks before execution.
Monitor training due dates and maintain trained status in the WCT.
Team Building & Development
Build high-performing WCTs including Operators, Team Leads, and Supervisors; conduct interviews and support Talent Acquisition.
Maintain Workday profiles for new staff; administer performance reviews; provide recognition and coaching.
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings for development and motivation; facilitate professional growth and cross-functional collaboration.
Foster a culture of learning through deviation discussions, safety incidents, and timely coaching.
Develop cross-functional relationships with Quality, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Science & Technology to maintain compliant processes.
Deviations
Proactively reduce deviations; drive continuous improvement; prepare No Impact deviation records compliant with ALCOA+.
Provide Area Management Approval for deviations as needed and report deviation progress.
CAPAs, Change Controls & Projects
Participate in CAPAs, Change Controls and Projects as required by the business and directed by senior management.
Behaviors
Maintain unbiased relationships and champion teamwork and communication; identify and mitigate risks in manufacturing operations.
Lead Go & See (Gemba) activities; coach Improvement & Coaching Kata at Tier Board Meetings and work areas to improve processes.
Remove bottlenecks and escalate problems through Tiered Management processes; drive performance and accountability.
Establish Leader Standard Work and use visual management to reveal problems; promote root-cause analysis and preventive action.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience with strategic thinking and leadership ability.
5+ years of manufacturing experience in a GMP facility.
Minimum of 2 years leadership experience with direct reports.
Preferred Requirements
Advanced degree preferred.
Working Condition
Intermittent walking and sitting; ability to sit or stand for extended periods as needed.
Comfort working with contained human blood components and in a cleanroom environment with PPE as required.
Physical dexterity to use computers and documentation; must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Ability to work around laboratories and restricted areas; adherence to dress and access controls.
Visit restrictions apply in designated areas; job duties may require on-site presence.
Compensation & Other Information
Compensation overview: Summit West - NJ - US: $103,560 - $125,495. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available. Final compensation based on experience.
