The Reality Labs (RL) organization at Meta is helping more people around the world come together and connect through world-class Augmented and Virtual reality (AR/VR) products. RL conducts research and development in computer vision, machine learning, haptics, social interaction, and more. The XR Tech organization focuses on cutting edge research and development of machine perception technologies across Meta’s AR/VR products and surfaces, including Quest products, Meta Glasses and Family of Apps (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp). In this role, you will research and apply software, computer vision, and machine learning techniques to solve challenges bridging virtual and real worlds, impacting billions of people. We address challenges in real-time image processing, hand tracking, eye tracking, 3D reconstruction, visualization, and toolings. There are opportunities to collaborate with RL Research (RL-R) and FAIR.
Responsibilities
Design and develop novel computer vision and/or machine learning algorithms in areas such as: hand tracking and gesture recognition, large-scale mapping, reconstruction and scene understanding, real-time scene and object tracking, semantic segmentation, depth sensing, generative approaches (GANs), 3D stereo and volumetric reconstructions Develop prototypes for future VR/AR/MR experiences, drive continued development, and integrate robust solutions into product Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and research teams from Reality Labs (RL) and Facebook AI Research (FAIR) in computer vision, machine learning, and graphics Participate in cutting-edge research in computer vision applicable to AR/VR product development Define projects for other engineers to possibly solve and achieve impact based on your direction Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning or related technical field, or equivalent significant industry experience 3+ years of experience prototyping and engineering in at least one relevant specialization area in either Computer Vision or Machine Learning: hand tracking, pose estimation, gesture recognition, SLAM state estimation, online calibration, sensor fusion, 3D reconstruction, object detection, segmentation and tracking, scene understanding, or semantic segmentation Preferred Qualifications
PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics or related technical field Industry experience on projects such as: object or hand tracking and detection, pose estimation, gesture recognition, real-time SLAM, and/or image processing, segmentation, 2D/3D key point estimation and surface reconstruction, depth estimation Experience developing and designing Computer Vision and/or Machine Learning technologies for edge devices (mobile phones or custom hardware) Publication track record at conferences such as SIGGRAPH, CVPR, NIPS, ECCV, ICCV, ISMAR, ICML, etc. About Meta
