Overview Sr. Principal HSE Associate/Engineer at Lilly Lebanon API (Lebanon, IN). This role is part of the HSE team and provides technical leadership and expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE programs. The role focuses primarily on Health and Safety programs but may include Environmental programs as needed. The project delivery/startup phases (startup expected 2025 to 2027) require collaboration, creativity, and resilience to support project delivery, build a new organization, develop systems and processes for GMP operations, and foster a strong site culture. Post start-up, this role serves as the subject matter expert for assigned HSE programs and as an HSE regulatory advisor for manufacturing and support units.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the development of the HSE operational readiness plan for the Lilly Lebanon API facility as a collaborative, inclusive, and energetic member of the HSE team.

Lead implementation of assigned HSE operational readiness programs (e.g., lockout/tagout, PPE, hazard communication, ergonomic hazards, confined space entry, machine guarding, working at heights, powered industrial vehicles, health and safety risk assessments).

Support the project team by providing input on health and safety design decisions, construction, and startup plans, ensuring compliance with project deliverables and Lilly knowledge and external learnings.

Develop and roll out safety and health programs, procedures, tools, and HSE management systems, including training, mentoring, and onboarding of new staff to promote a strong HSE culture.

Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to manage change, assure safety and compliance of new systems, and set requirements for a safe startup.

Serve as a site key contact and HSE program expert, maintaining knowledge of applicable corporate, local, state, and federal requirements and monitoring changes.

Coordinate and submit internal and external reporting on time, including second-person verification as needed.

Assist operational areas in understanding regulatory requirements and implementing compliant solutions; facilitate program implementation.

Complete internal HSE audits/assessments, lead/support incident investigations, trend HSE data, and support long-term plans for program improvements.

Foster liaison activities between site, regulatory agencies, and contractors regarding program needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science (e.g., chemistry, biology, occupational safety/health, industrial hygiene).

3+ years of experience in manufacturing operations (pharmaceutical or chemical preferred).

Experience applying Health and Safety regulations and developing Health and Safety programs.

Additional Preferences

Excellent organization and time management skills, with strong analytical and structured working approach.

Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Ability to lead cross-functional and technical teams.

Experience interfacing with HSE-related regulatory agencies.

Other Information

Tasks will require entering manufacturing and laboratory areas, which require wearing appropriate PPE.

Must carry a cell phone as position will support 24/7 manufacturing operations.

The anticipated wage for this position is $63,000 - $162,800. Full-time employees may be eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program, including 401(k), health benefits, and wellness programs.
