The Senior Data Analyst plays a key role in advancing the University of South Carolina’s data-driven decision-making efforts within the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Analytics (OIRAA). This position designs, manages, and analyzes complex data systems to ensure accurate and efficient reporting for institutional accountability at state and national levels, including IPEDS and SC CHE submissions. The Senior Data Analyst supports OIRAA’s mission to deliver reliable data and insights to senior leadership, the university community, and external stakeholders, contributing to informed planning, policy development, and strategic decision-making across the institution. Responsibilities

Job Duty: Develops information systems and prepares census data related to student, courses, instructors, facilities and financial aid. Supports the process from data query/extraction/coding, report preparation, data validation to final submissions. Archival of CHEMIS data for reporting, analysis and benchmarking. Job Duty: Designs and maintains complex systems for the extraction, compilation, analysis, processing and presentation of institutional data to fulfill annual IPEDS reporting requirements. Job Duty: Designs and maintains database and reporting applications in various environments (e.g., SQL, SAS) to run against the ERP system (Banner). Maintains and updates all Institutional Research data marts and scheduled processes to support decision support, accountability, and performance reporting. Monitors scheduled processes and sets up alerts for failures. Job Duty: Consults with internal and external constituencies regarding information needs. Extracts data from multiple information systems and creates reports/data visualizations. Assists with data governance projects (data dictionary, standardizing data coding and data definitions). Helps campus users understand and utilize data for improvement. Essential Functions & Time Allocation

Monitors job processes and alerts for unsuccessful runs. Percentage Of Time: 25 Job Duty: Collaborates with stakeholders to deliver data products and dashboards; supports data governance and education on data use. Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications: Education: Master’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology or related field. Experience: 6+ years of experience with information systems management, data warehousing/querying, data analytics/visualization, and/or research design. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficiency with data management applications, query tools, and relational databases; extract, join, transform, and derive variables; use SQL, R, Python or other coding languages to create datasets for reporting and analysis. Proficiency with statistical software such as Tableau, Cognos/Argos, SQL, and SAS or equivalent to produce tables and graphs. Knowledge of data visualization and dashboarding using Tableau and Power BI. Knowledge of higher education information systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner) and data repositories (Salesforce, IPEDS, CSRDE, US News). Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams; ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Job Duties
