Academy Facilitator | Training and Development Unit (Human Resource Consultant 3) Full Time | Permanent Location: Monroe Correctional Complex | Monroe, WA Salary Range: $5,888 - $7,921 Monthly This position is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees. The position is senior level with the goal of delivering an onboarding academy training for the newest members of our agency workforce. The Academy Facilitator prepares new staff to become competent corrections professionals within prison facilities, utilizing research-based training materials and methodologies. This position is part of a team that creates learning experiences and transfers competency to performance in alignment with the agency\'s vision, values, and expectations. Human Resource Consultant 3 – Academy Facilitator,

some duties will include: Competently deliver professional level instruction for various audiences based on adult learning theory with a focus on learning and performance, including:

Delivering TDU curriculum and other curricula as assigned to achieve learning objectives and performance outcomes Collaborating with instructors, curriculum staff and supervisors to adapt and deliver courses to meet student needs Training, coaching and mentoring students toward knowledge and skill outcomes within an integrated learning model

Actively contribute to the effective operation and quality improvement of the Training and Development Unit, including:

Organization and coordination of academies and training delivery

Assume accountability for the accuracy and quality of student learning All other duties related to training, learning and performance What we need (required qualifications): High School Diploma or equivalent Ability to present and facilitate training in front of large audiences Ability to understand and deliver Adult Learning Theory training to adult learners for corrections Two years\' experience involving the teaching/training of adults Minimum of two years\' experience working in a corrections-related field including working with incarcerated individuals / or those under agency jurisdiction Ability to instruct or to gain the skills and experience to instruct all TDU designated training for all DOC staff Ability to attain and maintain required certifications within one year of appointment, including possible certifications such as First Aid/CPR Instructor, OC Instructor, Taser Instructor, with the aim to become certified in Virtually Lead Training and Facilitation of Learning Delivery Instructor Ability to respond to training needs statewide with minimal notice Accept high level of personal and professional responsibility and accountability Consistently demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality, with flexibility in work schedule Proven ability to work effectively in an operational unit that values professionalism, diversity, collaboration, integrity and continuous quality improvement in instructional quality and customer service Demonstrate competence to execute expert level organizational and functional skills; ability to garner respect from peers and stakeholders Proven ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment that includes interaction with incarcerated individuals or those under agency jurisdiction Ability to work effectively with basic computer programs and emerging technologies that improve training delivery Ability to be adaptable to change; contribute in productive and innovative ways to meet agency training needs; serve as a professional representative of the DOC Dress appropriately for the position What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications): Bachelor\'s degree with focus on adult learning, human resources, business, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field Knowledge and application of adult learning principles Additional certifications as an instructor of job knowledge/skill training for adult learners Experience with training in the corrections field Understanding of and/or experience with project management, Lean, Evidence Based Practices Core Correctional Practices, AMEND, Washington Way program, and Risk Needs Responsivity Demonstration of instructor development including Fundamentals of Learning Delivery or Curriculum Design or other instructional certification Field Instructor or Master level certification in Defensive Tactics Vision:

Telework Details This position may be allocated for telework and may be performed from home or another offsite location within Washington using internet or cellular service. You may be required to commute to a DOC facility or field office as business requires, potentially including onboarding components. Some offices may offer a drop-in area, but dedicated offsite DOC workspace may not be provided.
