Senior Data Scientist, Research - TikTok
Senior Data Scientist role within TikTok's Data Science team focused on generating actionable insights from data to help stakeholders make informed decisions. The team collaborates with Privacy, User Growth, PGC, Content Ecosystem, Social, Creation, Product Infrastructure, Research and Science to improve user experience and drive growth across regions.
Overview Responsible for deep analysis of user behavior, product features, and the content ecosystem to deliver business insights that can be translated into actionable initiatives. Work with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Research and Development, and Machine Learning Engineering to improve user experience and support growth.
Responsibilities
Design TikTok's online decision-making mechanisms, optimize experimental frameworks and quantitative evaluation methods, understand user and content dynamics, and identify opportunities to improve decision-making and analysis efficiency.
Address challenges in product and recommendation systems for experimental evaluation and online decision-making; design and promote practical solutions.
Perform advanced statistical or machine learning analyses for complex A/B experiments (e.g., weak significance, weak observations, bilateral effects, network effects) and communicate actionable conclusions.
Provide deep understanding of users and content through machine learning, statistical mining, LLMs, and related technologies.
Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, or related fields.
Experience in statistics, causal inference, experimental science, time series, machine learning, and deep learning.
Proficient in Python or R; familiar with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Hive).
Preferred Qualifications
Strong problem-solving ability with excellent cross-team communication and collaboration skills; enthusiastic about challenges.
Basic understanding of recommendation systems and knowledge of recommendation algorithms.
