Principal Network Development Engineer (Operations) – Oracle Join to apply for the Principal Network Development Engineer (Operations) role at Oracle.

Overview This role is for a Principal Network Development Engineer (NDE) in the FastConnect Network Engineering organization. Your focus will be on the architecture and support of edge network fabrics and software systems. You will leverage deep level understanding of networking at the protocol level, coupled with coding skills to support the intensive automation required to operate a production environment. We seek builders who can drive massive-scale cloud architectures from concept to reality, lead cross-organizational initiatives, and solve some of the most exciting and complex problems in cloud and AI networking.

Responsibilities

Work with customers to drive end-to-end development of new edge datacenter fabrics and services at global cloud scale, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence

Lead technical direction for network features and automation opportunities

Define and evangelize engineering and operational best practices; work cross-org to keep the bar for high network quality

Define and clearly communicate technical standards with forward-looking scalability at the forefront

Decompose designs into executable tasks and coordinate execution; collaborate with network software teams early in design lifecycle to develop new tools or frameworks

Participate in operational rotations as either primary or secondary. Provide break-fix support for events and serve as escalation point for remediation; participate in post-event root cause analysis

Mentor and develop the next generation of network engineers, providing technical leadership and support across the organization

Act as a liaison between network engineering and network tooling organizations to translate future network needs into software tooling requirements

Qualifications

Bachelors/Masters degree in CS or related engineering field with 6-10 years of Network Engineering experience

Experience in a large ISP or cloud provider environment and understanding of Overlay network concepts

Experience in a network operations role

Strong knowledge of protocols such as MPLS, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP; knowledge of VxLAN and EVPN is a plus

Extensive scripting or automation experience and data center design – Python preferred; demonstrated expertise in scripting or a compiled language

Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and SSL

Experience with network monitoring and telemetry solutions

Experience with network modeling and programming – YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF

Ability to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively using professional concepts and company objectives

Ability to work under limited supervision; strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

Excellent judgment in influencing product roadmap direction, features, and priorities

Participation in on-call rotation

Benefits and Compensation US: Hiring Range in USD from: 109,200 - 223,400 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges to account for knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, locations, and business needs. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on factors including internal peer equity.
