York Space Systems LLC
Electrical Systems Engineer, Senior (C&DH)
York Space Systems LLC, Greenwood Village, Colorado, United States
Overview
Electrical Systems Engineer, Senior (C&DH) at York Space Systems LLC. The role focuses on C&DH test processes, components, and mission C&DH subsystems. This is a systems engineering design/test role, NOT a circuit design role. The C&DH team handles design, analysis, integration, and testing of C&DH systems on York’s satellites, including in-house designs and purchased systems. Responsibilities
Develop and execute test plans and procedures to verify the functionality and performance of C&DH systems, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing. Define key performance metrics for C&DH subsystems, including timing, data throughput, signal integrity, and interface compatibility. Develop specifications for electrical interfaces (e.g., LVDS, RS422 UART, Ethernet, etc.) and ensure proper signal integrity and performance under environmental conditions (radiation, temperature, etc.). Address physical layer issues related to clock distribution, high-speed data lines, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) considerations. Design and optimize data flow architecture, ensuring efficient handling of command and telemetry data, including throughput, timing, memory management, error detection/correction, and optimizing bandwidth usage. Lead design reviews and participate in system-level trade studies and design trade-offs related to C&DH performance and mission goals. Provide technical guidance and expertise during integration activities, ensuring proper alignment with system architecture and performance requirements. Troubleshoot issues during test phases, analyze root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions. Monitor the performance of the C&DH system post-launch, ensuring that it meets mission objectives and operational requirements. Support anomaly resolution and provide expert input for troubleshooting and system recovery during on-orbit operations. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent degree or experience 5+ years of experience in embedded system design and/or test Experience with spacecraft C&DH design and/or test Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance Desired Qualifications
Experience with system-level testing and integration (HIL, SIL, automated testing), including hardware/software validation and failure detection. Proficiency in systems engineering for space applications, including integration of C&DH subsystems with avionics, payloads, and communications. Expertise in high-speed digital circuit design, FPGA/ASIC design, and/or signal integrity analysis for mission-critical systems. Strong background in managing data flow, bandwidth allocation, memory management, and real-time data processing in space systems. Experience working with bus protocols and interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, RS-422). Knowledge of managing issues such as rise/fall time, skew, jitter, crosstalk, and data flow management for high-speed, mission-critical systems. Deep understanding of space radiation effects on digital electronics and strategies for radiation mitigation. Experience in designing and managing systems for precise timing and synchronization in cross-platform environments. Familiarity with failure modes in space systems and reliability techniques, including error correction and watchdog timers. Proficiency in defining and implementing software interfaces between hardware subsystems and mission software. Strong communication skills for coordinating across technical teams and reporting on project status, risks, and mitigations. Equal Employment Opportunity
York Space Systems provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, military or protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training. Benefits
In addition to compensation, York Space Systems offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance along with PTO and a 401K. How To Apply
