Overview
WOLF Advanced Technology (WOLF) designs and manufactures rugged, high-performance computing, AI, and video I/O boards, modules, and systems for aerospace and defence. Our solutions thrive in harsh environments, powered by advanced NVIDIA GPUs and Xilinx FPGAs. We are seeking a full-time Sr. Engineer, Hardware, SBC to join our product development team in Aurora, ON (hybrid).
Reporting to the Sr. Engineer, Technology: SBC & Embedded Security Solutions, you’ll design rugged single board computing solutions that power aerospace and defence systems worldwide. You’ll collaborate with PCB, firmware, software, mechanical, and production teams to bring high-performance computing products from concept to deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design and innovate: translate complex requirements into schematic designs for rugged embedded systems meeting aerospace and defence standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally: partner with PCB, firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate components into mission-ready products
- Drive performance: evaluate high-speed interfaces, power distribution networks, and GPUs/SoCs for extreme environments
- Validate reliability: plan and execute compliance testing, thermal characterization, and bring-up under MIL-STD conditions
- Advance technology: research and integrate cutting-edge video, AI acceleration, and interconnect solutions
- Document with precision: create and review specifications, schematics, and BOMs aligning with aerospace standards
- Champion quality: work with production and quality teams to optimize workflows and design-to-production cycles
Role includes shaping WOLF’s high-performance computing platforms to meet the demands of aerospace and defence leaders globally.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 8+ years designing mixed-signal hardware systems. Experience in aerospace/defence, developing high-speed circuits and embedded solutions compliant with performance and reliability standards.
Desired: Schematic-level design expertise, high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR4, GDDR6), and video standards (HDMI, DisplayPort, SMPTE). Experience with rugged computing form factors (VPX, XMC) and familiarity with SOSA for the U.S. market. Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, DO-160, IPC standards; familiarity with DO-254, DO-178, ISO 26262, and SPICE-like verification is a plus.
Technical skills:
- Cadence OrCAD/Allegro PCB Editor and related schematic/layout tools
- Understanding of serial protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN Bus)
- Awareness of aerospace and defence requirements and manufacturability considerations
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson, ARM-based SoCs, or x86/NVIDIA GPUs
- Familiarity with VPX/XMC rugged platforms and related standards
