Position Title Custodian 1 - Facilities

Salary Grade Skilled Crafts & Maintenance

Proposed Annual Salary, Hourly Rate or One-time payment
Essential Duties Cleans and dusts areas such as suites, offices, classrooms, kitchens, living spaces, laboratories, lobbies, museums, locker rooms, stairways, corridors and elevators Dust mop and wet mop floors Cleans and maintains restrooms and bathrooms Refills toilet paper, paper towel and soap dispensers Removes and cleans floor mats and entrance rug runners Maintains custodial and storage areas in a clean, orderly manner Use cleaning tools such as mops, brooms, squeegees, cleaning cloths, sponges, pails, brushes, vacuum cleaners, etc. Remove waste paper baskets and containers, and empties same into trash containers and cleans area after trash has been picked up Remove litter from building entrances or sweep same Observe safety standards and practices Cleans and polishes furniture and cleans inside windows on floor level Clean and polish hardware such as doors, woodwork, door handles, push plates, kick plates, metal handrails and drinking fountains Vacuums and spot clean rugs Clean glass, chalkboards, display cases, interior partitions and light fixtures which are reachable from the floor Maintain adequate supply of cleaning equipment, materials and supplies Make beds as required. Turn in found articles in accordance with University policy Reports all repairs required and safety and fire hazards to building manager and immediate supervisor Lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds unassisted Perform related duties as required or assigned within job classification Minimum Qualifications
One year experience cleaning in a commercial environment Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write

Perform duties necessary for routine cleaning and to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of buildings and areas. This positions reports to the Facilities Management Department.
