Job Summary

Arrange for the efficient and orderly admission of outpatient testing or procedures. Ensure that the patient’s information is collected, entered in the computer system accurately, and that all patients are aware of Urgent Care policies and procedures. Interview incoming patients or representatives and enter information required for admission into the computer. Distribute appropriate information to all ancillary departments. Maintain a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Register patients for outpatient testing and procedures, obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.
  • Obtain signature on MSE and Condition of Admission forms.
  • Communicate appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Receive patient payments or a co-payment as required. Post transactions to the system. Count till drawer and verify the correct amount at the beginning and ending of every shift.
  • Maintain department records, reports, and files as required.
  • Know Urgent Care policies and be familiar with Urgent Care services that are available.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function well in stressful situations.
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity; maintain confidentiality of patients’ records.
  • Maintain a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
  • Participate in educational programs, complete annual educational requirements, and attend in-service meetings as required.
  • Attend all other meetings as required.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Accept and complete other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report cards and accurate time clock punches (punch in/out according to Urgent Care policy).
  • Answer incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and wear appropriate clothing according to dress code.
  • Duties as deemed necessary and in compliance with PCI standards and other company policies for payment card acceptance and security.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certification: High School Diploma or higher. Current BLS Certification.
  • Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system and operate basic computer functions and software.
  • Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others as a team player.
