Base pay range

$120,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yr

Our Finance division has a full-time opening for a highly skilled Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of multiple Trusts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and accounting system administration. This role ensures accurate and compliant financial reporting, effective internal controls, and continuous process improvement. The Accounting Manager also provides leadership to accounting staff, supports audits, and contributes to strategic initiatives within the Finance Division. Duties

  • Team Leadership & Oversight
    • Supervise and coordinate the work of accounting support staff across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and policy/procedure documentation.
    • Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to build a high-performing team.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Manage monthly and year-end close processes for multiple Trusts.
    • Prepare and distribute timely, accurate financial statements; analyze results and explain variances.
    • Develop and maintain custom reports using accounting systems and advanced spreadsheets as needed.
  • Audit & Compliance
    • Assist Controller in coordinating annual audits, ensuring accuracy of workpapers and compliance with audit requirements.
    • Review and maintain proper general ledger set-up and reconciliations.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, tax requirements, and relevant accounting standards.
  • Process Improvement & Technology
    • Lead initiatives to streamline processes, improve controls, and leverage technology to enhance efficiency within the Finance Division.
    • Troubleshoot accounting system issues, working with vendors, IT staff, and end-users to test and implement solutions.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations and supporting schedules.
    • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and support tax and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Public accounting and/or audit experience preferred.
  • Experience managing accounting for multiple entities strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, audits, and compliance.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with accounting software; strong systems aptitude.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial data analysis/reporting tools.
  • Ability to leverage technology to optimize accounting processes.
  • Experience in nonprofit, insurance, or benefit plan accounting a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
