Your Mission Brief WOLF Advanced Technology is on the hunt for a full-time Sr. Engineer, Hardware, SBC to join our high-performance product development team in United States (*On-site/Remote). Reporting to the Sr. Engineer, Technology: SBC & Embedded Security Solutions, you’ll play a mission-critical role in designing rugged single board computing solutions that power aerospace and defense systems worldwide. You’ll thrive in a hardware-focused environment where collaboration is key, working closely with PCB, firmware, mechanical, and production teams to bring high-performance computing products from concept to deployment. As Sr. Engineer, Hardware, SBC at WOLF, you might… Design and innovate: Translate complex requirements into schematic designs for rugged embedded systems that meet strict aerospace and defense standards Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with PCB, firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate components into seamless, mission-ready products Drive performance: Evaluate high-speed interfaces, power distribution networks, and advanced GPUs/SoCs to push the limits of computing in extreme environments Validate reliability: Plan and execute compliance testing, thermal characterization, and bring-up to ensure flawless performance under MIL-STD conditions Advance technology: Research and integrate cutting-edge video, AI acceleration, and interconnect solutions into next-generation designs Document with precision: Create and review detailed specifications, schematics, and BOMs that align with aerospace standards and internal processes Champion quality: Engage with production and quality teams to optimize workflows, improve reliability, and streamline design-to-production cycles At WOLF, your expertise ensures that mission-critical systems perform when it matters most, helping defense and aerospace leaders around the globe achieve uncompromising results. Your Edge With a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 8+ years of experience designing mixed-signal hardware systems , you’re ready to take ownership of complex schematic design and drive innovation in rugged single board computing. You’ve built your career in the aerospace and defense space, developing high-speed circuits and embedded solutions that meet uncompromising standards for performance and reliability. You bring proven expertise in schematic-level design , high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR4, GDDR6) , and advanced video standards such as HDMI, DisplayPort, and SMPTE , not just at the user level but in creating the interfaces that make them work. Your designs align with MIL-STD-810 , DO-160 , IPC , and ITAR requirements, ensuring products can withstand the harshest environments. With hands-on experience in rugged computing form factors like VPX and XMC , and awareness of SOSA, CMOSS, or VICTORY , you know how to translate demanding specs into practical, high-performance hardware that powers mission-critical systems. What You Bring to the Table Tool expertise: Proficiency with Cadence OrCAD, Allegro PCB Editor, and related schematic/layout tools, with the flexibility to adapt and learn new platforms Protocol knowledge: Strong understanding of serial communication standards including UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN Bus PCB awareness: Understanding of how schematic-level decisions impact PCB routing, manufacturability, and cost Standards knowledge: Familiarity with aerospace and defense requirements including MIL-STD-810, DO-160, IPC, DO-254, and DO-178 Rugged computing familiarity: Background with VPX, XMC, and U.S. defense frameworks such as SOSA, CMOSS, or VICTORY Cross-functional mindset: Ability to collaborate seamlessly with PCB, firmware, mechanical, and production engineers to deliver integrated solutions Problem-solving approach: Analytical skills to evaluate trade-offs, avoid assumptions, and dig into specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance Communication skills: Clear and open communicator who values feedback, teamwork, and knowledge sharing across disciplines About the Benefits At WOLF, we invest in you – not just through a competitive base tailored to your skills and experience, but with a benefits package designed to support your health, growth, and work-life balance.
