The Platform Distribution Legal group negotiates and provides legal counsel for the distribution of The Walt Disney Company’s world-class feature films, television content and online direct-to-consumer offerings.
The role is for the legal team supporting Disney’s Platform Distribution business unit, which is part of the Disney Entertainment and ESPN divisions. This position currently supports two Assistant Chief Counsels, one Lead Counsel and two Senior Counsels. You would be responsible for the day-to-day administrative functions for the leaders you support.
What You Will Do:
Schedule meetings and video chats, reserve conference rooms, and coordinate with other Executive Support Professionals to schedule meetings and video chats with large numbers of team members;
Understand the day’s priorities so you can be smart about how you schedule meetings;
Throw your anticipated schedule out the door when a time-sensitive matter comes up, then pick it up again when the dust settles;
Create a multi-city travel itinerary, taking into account time zones, weather delays, traffic and fatigue levels;
Draft letters and emails on behalf of your leaders;
Track, file, distribute and assist with preparation and editing of documents and presentations;
Act as “casual buyer” of office supplies for the department, and manage purchase orders and vendor contracts;
Prepare regular reports and summaries -- you’ll have tasks that you “own” completely;
Collaborate on projects by conducting research, writing and fact-checking;
Assist with on-boarding new employees – you’ll be the “friendly face” that newbies count on to answer all their questions;
Mentor and train new support professionals in hard skills like computer programs, and soft skills like teamwork; and
Assist in the planning of high-profile, complex events like offsites, as well as smaller-scale gatherings such as service recognition parties.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Sharp written and verbal communication skills, including clean grammar and strong proofreading skills;
Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines/deliverables;
Strong proficiency with all types of computers and office equipment;
Mastery of Microsoft Office programs (in particular Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and good skills in Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Workday, SharePoint, DocuSign, NetDocuments, Appspace and Concur or similar programs;
A calm head and steady hand to deal with the unexpected;
Confidence to learn new software programs when necessary;
Complete reliability handling highly confidential information;
Desire to truly be helpful to your leaders and co-workers, to go the extra mile without being asked, to build solid inter and intra-team relationships;
Some flexibility in your schedule – we value work/life balance, but in a pinch, a bit more time may be needed;
Very strong organizational skills and attention to detail; and
A professional demeanor, positive outlook and can-do attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 5 years supporting a Vice President, Director, law firm partner or equivalent experience; and
Experience working in a large publicly traded company or legal office.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $65,300 to $87,500 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs.
