Responsibilities

Act as “Chief Business Officer” to general manager and executive team, evaluating financial impact of business decisions.

Notify management promptly of any financial deviations or control weaknesses.

Manage cash flow issues; prepare cash‑flow statements, manage receivables, cash balances, control mechanisms, and deposits.

Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, investigate variances, and offer improvement strategies.

Assist with capital planning: return on capital improvements, bid process, scope of work.

Ensure compliance with regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and operational taxes.

Coordinate forecasts and budgets with executive team and department managers.

Analyze financial data to maintain hotel financial objectives.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations timely.

Audit internal financial controls: purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, credit extension, inventory, assets, payroll, employee records.

Recruit and develop finance staff, coaching, counseling, discipline, development programs.

Maintain compliance with Crescent Hotels & Resorts standards and regulations.

Utilize and upgrade IT systems and equipment.

Prepare financial reports per CHR requirements meeting deadlines.

Daily Tasks

Review and submit Daily Revenue Report.

Deposit all cash and process credit cards.

Review Labor Report for overtime and forecast variance.

Weekly Tasks

Review departmental checkbooks and advise changes.

Distribute and discuss weekly G/L report with department managers.

Update GM on unfavorable financial issues.

Ensure sufficient cash for scheduled obligations.

Monthly Tasks

Reconcile balance sheet with backup.

Count banks and main vault.

Review “Key Financial Controls” Checklist.

Review actual numbers versus forecast for accuracy improvements.

Participate in monthly Credit Meeting.

Participate in forecast review with Department Heads prior to submission.

Annual Tasks

Complete Internal Control Questionnaire bi‑annually.

Conduct surprise payroll audit bi‑annually.

Prepare analysis required by ownership and outside accounting firms.

Attend periodic meetings: Executive Committee, Sales & Service, Financial Review, Budget Forecast, Credit & Collection, Business Review Meeting.

Maintain report deadlines and due dates.

Maximize productivity; identify and implement solutions.

Approach guests and employees courteous and service‑oriented.

Maintain attendance, appearance, and grooming per standards.

Comply with Crescent Hotels & Resorts standards and regulations.

Required Skills

Minimum 3 years as Hotel Director of Finance.

Minimum 8 years progressive experience in hotel accounting or related field; alternatively 4‑year college degree with accounting/finance concentration and 4 years progressive experience; or 2‑year college degree and 6 years progressive experience.

Demonstrated accuracy in P&L composition, forecast accuracy, and overall financial management exceeding owner expectations.
