Machine Learning Engineer/Researcher (Founding Role) Full-time

US citizen/visa only

1+ years experience

About Us LabyrinthAI is an early-stage robotics and AI startup on a mission to make it dramatically easier for companies to build and apply AI models to robots. We focus on robotic manipulation with a mission to provide engineers with the tools to seamlessly integrate AI into robots, drastically reducing the cost and complexity of robot programming and deployment compared to traditional methods.

We’re looking for a hands-on, entrepreneurial Machine Learning Engineer or Researcher in a Founding Role to help drive the development of our AI-driven robotics platform. We’re especially excited to meet candidates with strong software engineering and AI/ML expertise who are passionate about robotics and eager to turn cutting-edge research into real-world products.

Who You Are

Experienced with model training, deployment, and maintenance in a production environment

Strong skills in gen-AI models and ML, software programming, deep learning and related tools (e.g. Python, Pytorch, Tensorflow, Isaac Sim etc.)

Industry or academic experience with robotic manipulation, automation systems, or controls; Experience working cross-functionally on robotics projects

Startup mindset - adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and wearing many hats in a fast paced environment

Deep knowledge of VLA’s, diffusion models, and cutting-edge techniques in AI

Experience with data collection, data pipelines, and complex system architectures for real-world applications

You know how to deploy high-quality production code as part of a software team and care deeply about good engineering

You thrive in a high-autonomy, fast paced environment. You take ownership and don’t need to be micromanaged on what the top priorities are at any given moment.

You’re hungry to make a huge impact and for personal growth, and like to have fun

You enjoy getting your hands dirty across the whole stack from R&D through production

Deeply passionate about the latest in AI and robotics

What You’ll Do

Train VLA (vision-language-action) models for manipulation tasks on our robots using simulation and real-robot datasets

Build pipelines to collect and curate data for real world robot deployments

Design and implement algorithms that apply AI to complex, real-world robotics tasks

Build robust, scalable systems that connect foundational models to physical-world execution

Keep up with cutting edge research on robot learning (VLA’s, Imitation Learning, RL etc.) and evaluate them to improve our stack

Optimize AI models for large scale training and low-latency edge inference on real world robots

Integrate trained AI models with our robots

Requirements

Experience applying AI/ML to robots (e.g. VLA’s, IL, RL) with hands-on robot experience

MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field

Can work in-person in Boston, MA without visa sponsorship

Bonus Points

Familiarity with sensors, manufacturing, and industrial automation

Prior work on real-time ML inference, Sim2Real, VR/AR

Prior experience in early-stage startups, and/or managing engineering teams

Who Should Apply We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds, including experienced robotics engineers, software engineers, and robotics researchers looking to transition into startups.

Please do not apply unless you meet the Requirements above.

We are unable to sponsor visas at this time.
