We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Software Architect to contribute to the design and development of enterprise-level software systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in software architecture and development, particularly in Java, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions. This role is hands‑on and requires a solid foundation in software engineering best practices, with opportunities to influence architectural decisions and mentor team members. Job Description

This role is based in our Plano, TX office. It is not approved for remote or virtual employment. This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship. Comcast Business Global (CBG) focuses on designing, implementing, and managing advanced technology solutions, serving Midmarket and Enterprise customers with a portfolio of managed network, managed voice, and managed security services. This is a domain architect role for CBG; the Architect 4 collaborates with enterprise architects to execute on established roadmaps. Core Responsibilities

Contribute to the design and architecture of enterprise software systems, ensuring scalability and alignment with business goals. Assist in developing high‑level product specifications and architectural choices in collaboration with senior architects. Recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve performance and development efficiency. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java; remain hands‑on with development tasks. Participate in code reviews and help establish coding standards and best practices. Debug and optimize applications to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability. Provide technical guidance to engineers and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Mentor junior engineers and support their growth through knowledge sharing and technical coaching. Participate in architectural discussions, technical planning, and project estimations. Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions. Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to inform architectural decisions. Evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities for improvement in scalability, performance, and security. Ensure solutions are well‑engineered, maintainable, and delivered on schedule. Document requirements and contribute to system implementation strategies across projects. Support technology proofs and communicate architectural direction within the team. Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Java, including hands‑on coding experience with technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, and JPA. Experience working with Oracle databases, particularly in application development contexts. 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with exposure to design and architecture responsibilities. Preference for candidates currently functioning as Senior Software Engineers who are aspiring to transition into an Architect role. Experience working in agile development environments. Experience designing and implementing distributed systems and enterprise applications. Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming, design patterns, and data structures. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architecture. Exposure to DevOps practices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and database technologies (SQL, NoSQL). Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines. Demonstrated ability to mentor and collaborate within engineering teams. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
