Medical Technologist Specialist-Lead (MT) – Andrology – Full Time – Kenmore

Summary Under general supervision, the Andrology Tech Specialist performs semen analysis, including morphology and specimen preparation for intrauterine insemination procedures. The specialist exercises independent judgment when evaluating the validity of test results prior to result reporting, and provides data for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The specialist operates and calibrates all equipment in the area of specialization, writes and evaluates procedures and protocols, trains new and current staff, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records test results, and communicates with physicians, pathologists and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results.
Responsibilities
Conduct semen analysis and specimen preparation for intrauterine insemination procedures.
Evaluate the validity of test results and report findings.
Calibrate and operate laboratory equipment.
Write and evaluate procedures and protocols.
Train new and current staff and evaluate laboratory data.
Communicate test procedures and results to physicians, pathologists and nursing staff.
Lead other Medical Technologists at Atrius locations.
Education / Certifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Physical, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution.
Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification is strongly preferred.
Specialty certification is a plus.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is strongly preferred; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
Meet the required qualifications for competency assessment as defined by CAP (College of American Pathologists).
Experience Minimum five years of laboratory experience preferred.
Skills
Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex clinical and instrument problems.
Accurate, reliable and able to work well under pressure and finish a task once started.
Strong communication skills, both in writing and speaking.
